Remember Miss Daisy? The brave little soul from the June Chicken Rescue? When she first arrived into our care, her condition painted a painful picture of neglect. She had badly broken toes and lingering nerve damage from a previously untreated leg fracture. 💔
After almost 2 months of rehabilitation and tender loving care, Miss Daisy and 5 of her feathered companions have found their forever home. These lovely ladies now have a place to call their while basking in the safety and comfort of a loving family. 😍❤️
Here is a few words from her new Hen Parent- Kathy!
‘Recently, we decided to start adding some more farm experiences to our farmstay accommodation and venue. We already had donkeys and cows that guests can feed, but it has been a while since we have had chickens. Rather than buying chickens from a produce centre, I decided that I would love to help some ex-cage chickens.
I found Happily Heifer After and I saw that just 17 hours earlier, they had put up a post on their Facebook page asking if there was anyone who could adopt 6 hens. I was very excited and applied straight away. When I arrived to pick up the hens, I was so happy to hear that one of the hens I would be taking home would be Miss Daisy! I had read Miss Daisy’s story online and I was astounded by her resilience.
The team at Happily Heifer After had done such an amazing job with healing Miss Daisy, that I could hardly believe I was looking at the same chicken! Miss Daisy looked fabulous, her feathers were growing back and she was moving around very well, without her wheelchair.
I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone from Happily Heifer After. My new hens have already brought me so much happiness and I am sure that Miss Daisy and her friends will bring joy and smiles to our guests who come and stay with us at @branellhomestead too!’
