On the 7th of September, days after coming into our care, Bennett underwent surgery to repair his dislocated and damaged hip joint. Thanks to the exceptional team at UQ Vets Gatton, Bennett thankfully made it through the extensive surgery safely! This resilient little soul spent the weekend in hospital resting and recuperating, and of course receiving all the love and attention he deserves!
The next step in Bennett's recovery is perhaps the most crucial. After receiving the all clear from his surgeons, he headed home to start physio! This is when his real rehabilitation journey begins. It won't be easy, but if there's one thing we've learned from Bennett, it's that he's a fighter!
Bennetts rehabilitation will involve a careful regimen of supportive care, intensive daily physical therapy, balanced nutrition, and lots of tender loving care. We are so grateful to be partnering with the team at @crankysfarm for Bennetts rehabilitation! They have experience with this specific surgery after rehabilitating their beautiful Brahman heifer Peggy last year! Between Crankys and Happily Heifer After, our dedicated team is ready to provide anything and everything Bennett needs to make a full recovery!
One Month later...
Last week, our hearts were full as we got to visit Bennett at @crankysfarm. This sweet boy has been on a remarkable journey of rehabilitation following his surgery only just a few weeks ago, and we couldn't wait to see how he is progressing!
Spoiler alert: Bennett is making strides—literally and figuratively!
Bennett’s resilience and determination is truly remarkable. Day by day, he’s showing signs of improvement, steadily bearing more weight on his leg—a promising indicator that he's on the right path to recovery. Each step he takes is a testament to his strength and the excellent care he’s receiving. We couldn't be prouder of him and more grateful to the dedicated team at Cranky's Farm who are working tirelessly to ensure his well-being during his initial rehabilitation.
